Moms That Rock

If you have been hanging out with me for a while or you get my newsletter then you will have heard me talking about Moms That Rock but the other day a curious thing happened. Someone messaged me and asked:

“What exactly is, Moms That Rock”?

.

So I started replying with the usual spiel, that it’s a group for likeminded moms to hang out and support one another… but then I began to think about it and realised that since starting the group, it’s now so much more.

If we rewind a couple of years…

I had joined a number of mom groups on Facebook – I like the group feature as it’s a great way for me to connect with folk, when you work at home, alone, it can get mighty lonely at times!

Anyway, I found that a lot of the mom groups were very negative, threads were often ripping other moms apart, pulling women down and generally not a nice place to hang out. Plus all the mommy war stuff, breast-feeding Vs bottle, vax vs no vax, working moms vs SAHM. Basically I had enough.

I don’t give a monkey’s ass if you work or not, if you had a c-section or natural birth or adopted, if you breastfeed or bottle. Really it is non of my business and each of us should be entitled to make a decision without other moms ripping up apart.

So I decided to start my own group for women like me.

Moms who were sick of the bitching and pulling people down, who wanted a place to get support, to share the wins, to ask for help and to have a laugh. I built the community that I wanted to hang out in (and hoped that others would want to too!)

We all come from different backgrounds and experiences, my hope was that if anyone had a question that we would have at least one person in the group that would be able to help. Make the connections needed, refer to an expert, or have real life experience they can share.

And as time has gone on it has become apparent that a lot of our moms are running their own business or hoping to, so now we have business support added into the mix. Newbies have so many questions, some people struggle with the tech or the lingo, need help making the right connections or advice on which services to buy.

There are lots of ex-pats in the groups and no matter which country you pull up we seem to have someone who is either from there or lived there – how cool is that?

I love that no questions go unanswered, always someone is willing to jump in and help. The group has grown organically and since opening we have had no drama, the only people I have booted out are spammers and I think we can all agree that the world is a better place without them!

Some great friendships and connections have been made, working partnerships and alliances, and bonds that hold us up when the going gets tough! I feel blessed that I’m now surrounded by so many amazing women from all walks of life.

I sometime jump on Facebook live, we have mini challenges too – all good fun!

.

So does this sound like somewhere you would like to be?

We have mamas from all four corners of the world, some just lurk, some are super active, it is a right mixed bunch of different race, cultures and religions a proper mixing pot of supportive women.

If this sounds like you, then come and join us, it’s a free group and hosted on Facebook (since the majority of the world is over there anyway, it just makes sense to have it there!)
